While all apples have juice and can be juiced, there are some that are better for the job than others.

3. Golden Delicious Apples

This variety of apples tends to have an irresistible aromatic honey flavor with a rich yet sweet taste. Golden delicious apples have a mildly sweet yet acidic flavor that is perfectly balanced, perfect for juicing. 

4. Idared Apples

These delicious bright red apples are aromatic and refreshing. One thing you need to beware of is their ripeness. 

If they are not picked at just the right time, they will not be as flavorsome as they should be. But, if they are at that sweet spot, these apples are perfect for juicing.

  • Fuji Apples – These apples are known for their sweetness and creamy white interior. If you want to make apples at home, this is a pretty good choice to go with. 
  • Red Delicious Apples – These apples are just the juiciest apples, but they are sweet and very balanced in their flavoring. 
  • Gala Apples – These apples are firm, crisp, and mildly sweet. Perfect if you want to make delicious apple juice at home. 
  • McIntosh Apples – These apples are known for their mild yet sweet flavor. They are often used in commercial apple juices, so you can’t go wrong with this option. 
  • Golden Delicious Apples – If you want to make a mildly sweet batch of apple juice, these rich and delicious honey-flavored apples will be perfect for you. 

Any of the apples I have listed here are ideal if you have a preference for sweet apple juice. Any one of them should be a good fit for you. But, I recommend trying them out so that you can decide which flavor you like best. 

What Apple Varieties Are Best For Tart Apple Juice?

Some people, myself included, prefer apples that are tart. If this is a preference that you share, then these three apples will likely be a good choice for your apple juice:

  • Braeburn Apples – This variety of apples is quite juicy, and the flavor is quite tart without being overpowering. Perfect if you like rich yet tart apples. 
  • Granny Smith Apples – These apples are quite low in sugar while remaining juicy. They are also well known for being quite tart apples, which is why they are my favorite apple for juicing. 
  • Pink Lady Apples – These apples have a firm texture and are well known for their tart flavoring. Be aware that they are high in sugar. So use them sparingly. 

Any of these three apples is perfect if you want to make apple juice that has a zing to it. But as I have said throughout, it is a good idea to try them yourself so that you have a true understanding of which one will suit your tastes.

  • Sweetener – If you want to tone down a super tart batch of apple juice, it is a good idea to add a sweetener. Maple syrup, agave, honey, or sugar are all great options. 
  • Greens – If you want to make your apple juice a little healthier, you can always add spinach or kale to your juice. This will make your juice healthier.
  • Citrus – Adding a little citrus juice can help create balance. It is also a great way to stop your apple juice from going brown too quickly. 
  • Fruit – If you want to add extra flavor to your juice, I recommend adding berries, guava, or mango to your apple juice. 
  • Water – This may seem like a strange ingredient to add to your juice. But diluting your juice with coconut water or sparkling water can add a little extra zing to your already delicious apple juice. 
  • Alcohol – There is nothing more delicious than a delicious glass of vodka and apple or rum and apple. Especially when you are relaxing over the weekend.
